My StoryPlease disregard all spelling and grammer error for this story is still in drafting and will go through many more revisions. Thank You.The darkness of the room was only comparable to that of the space that surrounded the ship. The places that each crewmember and passenger sleeps allow only enough room to turn over. The nighttime hours of a ship are ones related to nightmares, the sounds of the engines rattling the bulkheads. The sound of the engines could only slightly be heard over a low growl coming from one of the bunks Now a new sound started to pierce the sound of the growling, the tossing and turning of a body and sheets. THACK! The noise came from a young man sleeping across the walkway from the growl. The young man immediately fell back into the bed clutching his head and mouth trying not to make any noise. In his recoil he failed to recognize an older man that bunked above him swing his head over the bunk. He had a look of confusion and concern on his face. “You ok” the older man asked. “Yeah I’ll be fine” he said with a hint of pain in his voice “thanks though.” “That’s good to know but what happened to you and why did you put your hand over your mouth?” “I didn’t what to wake you two,” he said while turning to his side and bringing his knees to his chest. “And I … I had a nightmare.” “Well then don’t worry about waking me, and her” they both looked at the girl sprawled out across her bed, and emitting a noise that could be easily mistaken for a bear. “You couldn’t wake her up if you tried, I need to practically kick her to get her up and when I do she gets violent,” the older man said with much irritancy. “Oh, well I guess that that is good to know, I think” “Do you want to talk about your mares, I mean that’s one of the reasons I’m hear.” “Mares?” “Nightmares, and this is three nights in a row and to be honest I starting to get worried.” “I woke you up those other nights too! I’m really sorry about that.” “Don’t be I wouldn’t be much of a commander if I couldn’t recognize when my men had problems” with that he got off of his bunk and pulled the young man out of his bunk. “Come on we’ll get some thing to drink and you can tell me what’s bothering you.” The two men left the bunkroom and when the young man turned to shut the door he hit the commander with his tail. “Hey watch what your doing Ivan.” “Sorry, I have a hard time in these small transport ships.” They started down a dimly lit corridor made so that their eyes could adjust to the light. “This is off our other subject, but how are you still enlisted I thought that the empire had condemned grafting in the military and why do you sleep with those wolf contacts in isn’t it really bad for you.” “First off I’m not a grafter nor do I were contacts. These are both natural; I assume that I was born with them. The other thing to prove that they are natural is the fact that grafting can only be done with extensions of the body, tails, paws, things that don’t make the brain interpret the input signals like that of eyes in my case and ears, taste all of the functions like that.” “I knew most of that but what do you mean ‘I assume I was born with them’?” “I can’t remember anything from when I was young I got amnesia.” “Ouch its just I never heard of this sort of thing being natural.” There was a silence as they made a right at an intersection. “I’m sorry for waking you I” “Hey I said don’t worry about it, its not like its an uncommon thing. I mean did you hear her. I rarely get a good night sleep anymore. But back to my original point though what about your night mares.” “AH HA, The portal to the greatest room in the entire universe.” Ivan proclaimed like a mad scientist. They had stopped in front of two large doors labeled galley. “What was that!”? “OH umm … that is” Ivan pushed the door open “the greatest room ever created. The place were delicious delectable are made. Oh yeah back to you about my nightmares.” The Commander walked to the refrigerator “Well I’ve had them ever since I was … well as long as I can remember. “What do you what?” the commander asked with his hands in the refrigerator. “Milk, please.” “Really shouldn’t the sleep ward of picked that up and dealt with it.” “Actually they never found any thing, I had even woke up because of it while I was there. They couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary.” “Here you go,” the commander said handing Ivan a glass of milk. “Thanks commander.” “Call me Uragiri.” “Ok. But the nightmare starts out like any old dream and even though it happens a lot I still have normal dreams now and again. I was a child and I’m playing in the forest with this other girl. We are playing by a waterfall I believe but it begins to get late, and we both head back to our homes. This is were it starts into the nightmare part. “We hear something, that we’ve never heard before, go over our heads towards our homes, but just like children our curiosity get the better of us. We ran for our village, but when we emerge from the forest our feet come to an immediate halt. There in front of us the village is on fire, explosions are going of all around us, and the cries of death and pain fill the rest. We stand there in complete shock at the scene laid out in front of us, until a group of what seems like soldiers sees us. “They yell at us but we turn and run instead. They immediately open fire on us, and we managed to get into the dense forest. They stopped firing but I could see blood running down the girls’ leg, and I was full of rage. I managed to control it long enough to take her to a safe hiding place where I tended to her wound. I couldn’t contain my anger any more so I drew my knife and left her, but I looked back and told her something that looked like it put her at rest. “I had found those soldiers again and I found two of the soldiers. I managed to sneak up be hide them I threw a pretty good-sized rock at the base of the skull and I actually connected. His friend turned to the guy to see what happened and that’s when I rushed in. I stabbed him in the side, drew the knife to his stomach, and then I pulled it out while twisting. He fell immediately and I turned to the one I hit with the stone and stabbed him in the neck. I don’t know why but I left the machine guns there and started to leave. I then hear a something that caused me to duck behind a tree, but I ran into a soldier pointing his gun at me. His face had nothing but terror and his gun was trembling. I tried to attack him but he pulled the trigger ....” |
